Why Choose Us as Your Wedding DJ?
Why should we choose you as our DJ?
This is a question that we get asked all the time. There are hundreds of options out there when it comes to hiring a DJ for your Wedding, so how do you know who should you choose? Some couples take recommendations from friends and vendors, while others turn to the internet for options. Either way, how do you know which DJ is right for you?
Experience
First of all, make sure that the company you’re considering has plenty of experience DJing actual Weddings. You know what they say, “experience is the best teacher”. When we train a new DJ we bring them to as many Weddings as possible so they can see how things actually play out. As a company, we have over 12 years of experience, and have DJ’d well over 10,000 events. Over the years we’ve been able to develop countless tips and tricks that have saved the day multiple times. This is something an inexperienced DJ won’t be able to do. People to tend learn by trial and error, don’t let your Wedding be someone else’s learning curve.
Music Choice
Understanding music, how it works, and when to play it are all skills that every DJ has, right? Unfortunately the answer is no, not at all. Most people think “DJ” is an umbrella term that describes anyone that mixes music, but in reality there are multiple types of DJ out there. You have Event DJs, Club DJs, and Festival DJs, to name a few. Each type has a different approach and understanding for what it means to be a DJ.
So when it comes to hiring a DJ for your Wedding, make sure that they understand what your expectations are, and that they can handle a wide variety of music. Weddings usually have pretty diverse crowds. If you look at your guest list, you probably have a wide variety of ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds coming. An experienced Wedding DJ should be able to read your crowd, and know exactly what to play to keep everyone on the floor at the same time.
This is something that we take very seriously when training a new DJ. We ensure that every DJ working for us has an expansive understanding of music from the 40’s to today’s top 40, and knows how different people react to different types of music. Our DJ’s can read your crowd, and will know exactly what they need to play to keep your unique group of guests on the floor and having a great time.
Timeline Knowledge
A great Wedding DJ doesn’t just know music, they also know how to run an event timeline. This is extremely important, and something that most people don’t usually consider when hiring a DJ. When a DJ understands a timeline they are actively following along as your night plays out, they are keeping you in the loop, and they are changing the vibe of the music to match where they are in the timeline.
We train all of our DJ’s to not only understand how timelines work, but also in full event coordinating. This not only ensures that your DJ will be able to follow along, but that they can also help you, or your coordinator, keep things on track if needed. An experienced Wedding DJ should be able to run an entire night on their own, so make sure this is something your DJ is prepared to do. The last thing you want is someone standing in the corner, and shrugging their shoulders when you ask them an important question.
Reconsider Your Recommendations
And finally, keep in mind that everyone has different opinions, preferences, and expectations when it comes to anything in this world, especially a DJ’s performance. One person’s opinion might differ completely from another (think about Taco Bell, some people love it, and some people hate it). Or think about your expectations for your reception, some couples want to dance the night away, while others just want a calm and intimate atmosphere.
Did you know that 83% of people say that a recommendation influenced their purchase decisions? If your Wedding venue suggests a DJ is it because you both share the same opinions on what makes a great DJ, or is it because the venue is getting a kickback from every DJ they recommend?
The Wedding industry generates over $72B (yes, billion) a year in revenue? This means that some vendors are just here for the money, and might think of you as just another client. We’re not trying to tell you not to trust anyone’s opinion, we just want to make sure you’re choosing the right DJ.
